What is needed to receive payments via SnappCar?

A safe community is very important at SnappCar. To guarantee this safe community and to comply with European laws and regulations for online payment systems, such as PSD2, we work together with Stripe, our Payment Service Provider. To use SnappCar and receive payments (via Stripe) you need to agree to the Stripe Connected Account agreement. We also need some information from you so you can (or continue to) use SnappCar and your bookings can be paid. We will share this information with Stripe. Most data is already in your Snappcar profile. Stripe requests a verification from you in order to comply with legislation and regulations that apply to online payment systems. Thanks to (revised) European regulations (such as PSD2), consumers can use new online account- and payment services, it makes online payments easier and online payments are becoming safer.

Stripe Connected Account agreement

To comply with the revised European Payment Services Directive (PSD2) and to provide better service to our users we work together with the Payment Service Provider Stripe. Thanks to Stripe, payments can be processed faster and there are more opportunities internationally. Therefore, all our car owners need to create a so-called "Stripe Connected Account" by agreeing to the Stripe Connected Account agreement. Our system automatically creates the account in which your payment details are stored so we can pay you. If no Stripe Connected Account is created, payments can not be made. For you as a car owner nothing will change. In your SnappCar profile you can tick the checkbox and save your data. From that moment on, your data will be processed securely by Stripe for the purpose of online payments and no longer by our previous payment provider Adyen.

Extra personal details

In addition to agreeing to the Stripe Connected Account agreement, we also need some other personal details. These are:

  • Your full name
  • Address
  • E-mail address
  • Date of birth
  • IBAN number

To perform the verification Stripe will request you to upload a document (passport, driver's license, ID card or residence permit). Stripe requests this to meet their "Know Your Customer" (KYC) obligations. This obligation means that Stripe must collect and monitor information about Stripe account holders to prevent fraud, abuse, money laundering and other types of (financial) crime. More information can be found on their website. You can add all data in your SnappCar profile and be aware that we cannot pay your bookings without this information. Always ensure that there is no information missing in your SnappCar profile, so you can use SnappCar without any problems.
