Why do we verify you as a renter? DAC7

Updated over 3 months ago

To keep renting through SnappCar safe, transparent, and in line with European regulations, we are required to verify our renters. This is part of DAC7: a European directive that requires online platforms to collect certain data and share it with tax authorities.

What is DAC7?

DAC7 (Directive on Administrative Cooperation) has been in force since 2023. This legislation is intended to provide greater transparency around income generated through digital platforms. Platforms such as SnappCar must report annually on the income of rental providers to the tax authorities of the country where they are liable for tax.

What does this mean for you?

  • To comply with DAC7, we are required to:

  • Verify your identity We check your name, date of birth, and address using an official document (such as a driver's license).

  • Report income We report rental income via SnappCar to the tax authorities.

  • Guarantee transparency We ensure that your data is managed and stored correctly and securely.

How does the verification process work?

Simple and secure:

  1. Upload a valid driver's license via Profile > Verifications > Rental provider > ID verification

  2. Check that your personal details are correct

Your verification does not affect your options within the platform. Want to know more? Visit the tax authorities' website.
