FAQ - Privacy and Cookie Policy

SnappCar is built on the trust of our community, which at the same time is one of our main pillars of success.  In saying that, SnappCar takes your privacy very seriously and treats all your personal information with great care. That is why we would like to inform you about our revised privacy and cookie policy.

Who is responsible for the processing your personal data?
Carshare Ventures B.V. ("SnappCar"), established in (3521 AL) Utrecht, the Netherlands, at Jaarbeursplein 6, is responsible for the processing of your personal data.

What personal data does SnappCar collect and process?
In order to make use of the SnappCar service we will need you to provide us with certain personal data. For example, when you want to rent a car or rent out a car. This personal data we need to provide the service includes for example, your contact details, a copy of your driving license, payment details and car details.

Why and when do we use your personal data?
Your personal data is used by us to provide a pleasant and safe experience when using SnappCar. To do so, we use your personal data when: using the service and online platform, to facilitate rental of vehicles, and entering into a rental agreement. Examples of this would be personal data used to create an account, to offer a vehicle for rental and the emails or messages that are sent to both the Renter and the Owner when a car is (about to be) booked. Your personal data is further used for checks, such as to check your Identity (are you who you say you are?) and for example the validity of the driver's license – as this is a requirement for the Insurance Terms and Conditions.

Who and when do we share your personal information with?
In the following circumstances we will share your personal data with third parties:

  • In order to complete the reservation, we will need to share the relevant information between owner and the renter. For example, your contact details and location of the car.
  • We also share information with service providers, such as Adyen (for payment processing), Onfido (for identity checks of ID and driver's licenses), Zendesk to provide customer service and the Insurance Company, in order to set up the Insurance contract between you and the insurance company.

How is my personal data protected and managed?
We take the protection of your personal data very serious. Therefore, we have implemented a variety of technical and physical security measures to protect your personal data, including authentication tools against unauthorized access of your personal data. Furthermore, we do annual as well as monthly scans of our systems to determine whether our security measures are still appropriate.

How long does SnappCar store my personal data?
SnappCar stores your personal data for as long as you have an active account. As soon as you deactivate your account you personal data will be deleted. For the exact retention periods, please read our Privacy Policy, section: 6. How long does SnappCar retain my personal data?

Who do I contact if I have a question about my personal data?
As a SnappCar user, you can always change settings in your own account. If you want to request some insights in your personal data, or if you want to change or delete them, please contact us through privacy@snappcar.nl.
