What happens if my car is declared total loss?

A car is considered total loss if the total cost of repairing the car is higher than the day value of the car in normal condition. For larger damages, the insurance company will send an expert to the car to determine its value. If the expert determines that the car is total loss, the insurance company will pay out the day value to the owner.
