Received a traffic fine after a rental period, what now?

Sorry to hear you received a traffic fine. We're happy to help you resolve this.

To process the traffic fine, it must not have been paid yet. You can upload the fine via fine-form. Make sure the fine meets the following requirements:

  • The fine must fall within a booking (parking fines must have been issued within 48 hours after the last booking — after that, they are the responsibility of the owner)

  • The fine must be clearly legible and include the following details:

    • Name

    • Address

    • Date the fine was received

    • Date and time of the violation

    • Reference number of the issuing authority

    • Fine amount

    • Payment instructions

    • License plate number

To ensure we can process the fine in time and that the renter can potentially file an objection, the fine must be uploaded:

  • Within 7 days of receipt

  • At least 14 days before the end of the objection deadline

If the fine meets these requirements, SnappCar will pay the fine to the relevant authority and handle the rest with the renter. If the fine does not meet the requirements, you remain personally responsible.

In some cases it is also possible (and mandatory for foreign fines) to transfer the fine to the renter. You can read about when this is required or possible, and what we need from you, here: How and when can I transfer a traffic fine?

After uploading, you will receive a confirmation email at the address you provided. SnappCar then needs 7 business days to process the fine. Once that's done, you'll receive a confirmation at the email address linked to your SnappCar account.
