How do the fuel costs in my booking work?

Renting a keyless car that reads fuel? Then we measure the fuel level automatically at check-in and check-out. We apply a 1% margin of error: if the difference is larger, we settle the fuel automatically.

Which costs will I see?

In your booking's cost overview you'll find a breakdown under Fuel costs:

  • Fuel costs – the value of the missing fuel, calculated based on the current fuel price (CBS data). This price may differ slightly, because CBS isn't always updated in real time.

  • Fuel surcharge – a fixed amount of € 10, only if the difference is more than 10% of the tank. This ensures the owner can refuel the car.

  • Service costs – 10% service costs, calculated over the total of the fuel costs and the possible € 10.

And if I actually refueled more?

Did you return the car with more fuel than at the start? Then we recommend arranging that with the owner.

💡 Tip: refuel the car back to the level at pickup, so you avoid extra costs.

⚠️ Please note: not every car supports automatic reading, and it only works with keyless cars. For other cars you arrange fuel with the owner as usual. Read more about that here.
