Am I insured when I rent a shared car?
Yes. Every booking made through SnappCar automatically includes comprehensive insurance provided by Allianz. Your coverage starts as soon as you complete the digital check-in through the app and automatically ends when your booking finishes. There's no need to arrange separate insurance policies, we take care of everything for you.
What does the SnappCar insurance cover?
The policy provides all-risk coverage, including:
Damage caused by external factors, such as scratches, dents, or windscreen damage
Theft and vehicle misappropriation
Vandalism
Third-party liability (TPL) coverage for both the renter and any approved additional drivers
Roadside assistance and vehicle towing
The vehicle is insured up to its insured value, with a maximum coverage amount of €90,000.
What is not covered by the SnappCar insurance?
The insurance only applies to bookings made through the SnappCar platform and for which the digital check-in has been completed through the app. Damage that occurs outside the rental period is not covered. In addition, Allianz's standard exclusions apply, including but not limited to intentional damage or driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Damage must be reported within 48 hours after the booking ends. Reports submitted after this period may not be processed.
What is the deductible at SnappCar?
As the renter, you are liable for damage up to the amount of your deductible (excess). The deductible varies by booking and depends on both your risk profile and the vehicle's profile.
During the booking process, you may be able to select a reduced deductible. If you choose this option, the lower deductible will apply unless you have violated the insurance terms and conditions.
Are additional drivers covered by the insurance?
Yes. Third-party liability coverage applies to both the renter and any approved additional drivers. However, all additional drivers must be added to the booking in advance. If someone drives the vehicle without being registered on the booking, the insurance coverage may become invalid.
How much does insurance cost at SnappCar?
The insurance contribution is variable and is calculated based on the risk profile of both the vehicle and the renter.
Factors such as the vehicle's value and the renter's age are taken into account.
Daily cost: between €5.50 and €21.00
No subscription or monthly fees
Insurance is arranged separately for each booking
Damage during your trip?
Have you accidentally caused damage during your rental? Report it immediately during check-out in the SnappCar app. Only damage reported within 48 hours can be processed.

Open the app when you've returned to the owner or the parking location
Start the check-out process
Indicate that damage has occurred
Upload clear photos of the damage
The report will automatically be forwarded to Allianz, who will handle the claim.
