How Does the Insurance Work?

When renting out your car via SnappCar, you want to be sure you're properly insured. No worries, every trip is automatically covered with fully comprehensive insurance through our partner Allianz. Here's how it works:

How Does SnappCar Insurance Work?

  • The insurance is automatically active during every booking made via the platform

  • You’re covered for damage, theft, and vandalism (casco insurance)

  • Coverage applies only if the booking is properly checked in via the SnappCar app

  • Any damage is handled directly by Allianz

What If Your Car Is Total Loss?

If the damage is so severe that repairs exceed the car’s current market value, it will be declared a total loss. Allianz will appoint an expert to assess the situation. If confirmed, you’ll receive the day value of your car directly to your account.

What About Your Own Car Insurance?

During a SnappCar rental, only the Allianz insurance applies, your personal car insurance will not be used.

Outside the rental period, your own third-party liability (WA) insurance applies again. Without a valid WA insurance, you’re not allowed to rent out your car via SnappCar.

Not sure if your insurer allows private rentals? Check with your provider. Tip: Allianz Direct and Centraal Beheer currently allow private rentals, but always verify the latest policy terms.
