Yes. SnappCar is primarily a peer-to-peer car-sharing platform for individuals, but you can also use a booking for business purposes. You don’t need a separate business account. Simply book a car through the app, download the invoice from your profile and use it as supporting documentation for your business administration. Whether the costs are tax-deductible depends on your individual situation, so check with your bookkeeper or accountant.
How does business car sharing work with SnappCar?
You book a car through the app just like any other renter. The difference is how you record the costs in your business administration afterwards. Save your booking overview, note the business purpose of your trip and discuss with your bookkeeper or accountant how best to claim the costs.
Can I book a shared car in my company’s name?
SnappCar does not offer business accounts. Bookings are always made in an individual’s name. However, you can use the booking overview available through your profile as supporting documentation for your business administration.
Do I receive a VAT invoice when using a shared car for business purposes?
You can always find the VAT breakdown for each booking in your SnappCar profile. You can easily download an invoice for each booking via your reservations.
You pay 21% VAT on the SnappCar fee and other administrative costs. No VAT is charged on the daily rental price, mileage costs or insurance.
Which costs are tax-deductible when using a shared car for business purposes?
This depends on your tax situation and how your business is structured. In general, business travel expenses may be tax-deductible, but the exact rules vary depending on your circumstances. SnappCar cannot provide tax advice, so please consult your bookkeeper or accountant to determine what applies to your situation.
